The current analogue television service is due to be switched off and replaced with a digital service between July 2010 and December 31, 2013.This switch off is scheduled to be completed right across Australia.

Rural and remote areas will have to upgrade their re-transmission sites to digital or rely on residents sourcing their own digital television signal via a satellite receiver and dish.
